Croscombe & Stoke St Michael Primary Federation

Admissions at our two schools are administered in slightly different ways reflecting the different ways that the schools are run. As Croscombe is a Church of England Voluntary Aided School, the Admissions authority are the Admissions group of Governors. Stoke St Michael is a maintained school and the Admissions authority is the Local Authority. This makes very little difference to the process from the point of view of the parents. Our PAN for each school is set at 12 for Croscombe and 7 for Stoke St Michael. This is the notional maximum for our intake year, but we can sometimes extend the year after taking into account the effect of larger year groups upon their classes.

If your child is due to start Reception in September 2020, you will be sent application forms and you are asked to complete them identifying up to three choices of possible Primary School for your child., the essential dates are as follows.

Closing date for school place applications –15 January 2020

Closing date for exceptional circumstance applications and all supplementary information – 7 February 2020

Primary admission outcome emails will be sent to people who applied online and outcome letters will be sent out by second class post to people who applied using a paper form – 16 April 2020

Closing date for receipt of appeal applications from parents who were notified of their outcome on 16 April 2020 – 18 May 2020

There are criteria against which these admissions are judged, and these are set out in our Admissions policies (see below)

If you are considering moving your child to one of our schools in any other year, you would need to download an In-Year Admissions form from the Somerset County Council website. Please return this to the school in question. In Croscombe, this will then need to be ratified by the Governors' Admissions Committee.
