The Power of the Crown.

Year 5 and 6 have been finding out about 'The Power of the Crown' through their study of various monarchs through the ages.  (Fact and fiction.)

In their analysis of Macbeth, they asked each other 'What was so alarming about The Three Witches?  As well as 'Who was the most guilty for killing King Duncan and why?'

In history lessons, the children have found out about the life of Mary, Queen of Scots and considered and discussed how much of a threat she was to Queen Elizabeth I.  The more they discovered, the more the Danger-o-meter rose.  Or did it?  In this lesson, the children are busy deciphering a coded letter from Anthony Babington, one of her allies.  (Or was he?)

The next step is to write fictional letters back from the imprisoned Mary, Queen of Scots.

Great, animated discussions, Owl Class.
