KS2 Glider Challenge

Oaks and Owl Class taking part in the KS2 Glider Challenge!

The children listened carefully to the national live stream event (sponsored by Thales) and then worked quickly to design and build their gliders using the resources provided by the organisers: Smallpeice Trust.

They then returned to the live stream link to see the shared work from Stoke St Michael and other schools, before going outside to conduct flight tests to compare each of the three gliders that they had made. Glider styles included those with elliptical, rectangular, swept or delta wing shapes as well as different shaped tails.

The children thoroughly enjoyed testing their gliders and measuring their flight distances. They then evaluated the aerodynamics of their glider design. Fabulous STEM learning!
