Forest School

Gear Up!

As our half of Year 1's & 2's get ready for more Forest School adventures over the coming weeks please remember to dress warmly with lots of layers!

Wild wood adventures are always much more fun if you are warm and dry!

Top Tips for keeping warm:

  • 3-4 layers on top: an insulating layer, a t-shirt, a fleece/jumper (with a zip is ideal) a waterproof coat that also keeps out the wind.
  • On cold days, two layers on legs (unless waterproofs are lined) – tights & leggings, leggings & tracksuit bottoms.  Jeans are not good in cold or wet weather.
  • Waterproof trousers
  • Wellington boots/Walking boots with warm socks or double sock layer.  Footwear should be waterproof, snow boots are ideal.
  • Hat & gloves.
  • Snood (rather than scarf)

Other notes: Waterproof trousers should be worn on the outside/over the top of wellingtons & other boots.  Please make sure waterproofs fit over the top.  Children will not be allowed to play in wet muddy areas without waterproofs!
